Distorting History

March 22, 2012

The state of California has passed a law mandating LGBT history be taught in the public schools. The law also forbids materials that “contain any matter reflecting adversely” upon LGBT persons. While pushing the LGBT agenda,California law forbids “any sectarian or denominational doctrine or propaganda.” The new law also warns private schools that the Education Code prohibits ‘discrimination’ in any aspect of the operation of alternative and charter schools.

The revised textbooks will not be available until 2015, but teachers may include material on their own before that. It is therefore essential that those who support the family and true history prepare a careful and correct study guide to answer the misinformation that will be included in the state mandated texts.

For example, many pro-LGBT histories quote John Boswell, author of The Marriage of Likeness: Same-Sex Unions in Pre-Modern Europe. Boswell, a self-identified ‘gay’ man who died of AIDS at age 47, claimed to have found evidence that in the early Middle Ages the Catholic Church had rituals with sanctioned same-sex “unions,” and these were a kind of marriage. He supported his claim by mistranslating a Greek word found in an ancient document — adelphopoiesis, literally the making of brothers. He ignored the fact that the rite referred to explicitly stated that the union being blessed made two men the equivalent of blood brothers and was a “spiritual” and not a “carnal” one.

Throughout history, a small percentage of people have engaged in sexual intimacy with persons of the same-sex. In most instances, such people did not claim to have a unique identity and in many cases they also engaged in sexual relations with persons of the other sex.

The word ‘homosexual’ was invented in the second half of the 19th century. In 1986 in his book in his book Psychopathia Sexualis, Richard von Krafft-Ebling used the terms ‘homosexual’ and ‘heterosexual,’ to distinguish between those who were attracted to the same sex and those who were attracted to the other sex. The word ‘gay’ had a primary meaning of carefree, but in the 17th century it came to mean addicted to pleasures and dissipations. A gay woman was a prostitute, a gay man a womanizer, and a gay house a brothel. In the 1920s the word ‘gay’ became associated with same-sex behavior that disregarded social norms. Applying the label ‘gay’ to an historical figure is in almost every case anachronistic and constitutes slander.

One of the ways LGBT advocates distort history is to claim that all intense same-sex friendships between historical personages included same-sex intimacy, when in fact there is no evidence for this.

Each distortion of history needs to be corrected. It is particularly important that material which maligns religion be challenged. If “sectarian or denominational doctrine or propaganda” in schools is forbidden byCalifornialaw, anti-religious propaganda should also be. Parents must educate themselves in these areas. They need to be armed with the truth so that they can protect their children.

    Thank you. very informative.
I -unfortunately live here in California. Unfortunately too I have a adult (young) child who identifies with the Same sex agenda.
I am trying to educate myself as much as I can with this issue. praying for her.
Our church needs to support groups like Courage and EnCourage more.
in my area of california there is not one EnCourage group. I have attended a meeting ( it was wonderful- gave me such hope) by driving 2 1/2 hours away, which I canot do on a regular basis.
the media is so biased towards the gay agenda, the “born that way” lie.

I can’t find an Encourage group near me either. It’s hard to get anyone to respond about starting one, too. I live in the Atlanta area.

The gay activists have “bullied” their way into the mainstream. They “bullied” the APA to remove it from their mental illness/disorder list. Today, their lies have been proven false by science and historians, so why is it we cannot stop them? In the same fashion it came off the list, we need to demand it go back on. It is a clinically described disorder, the evidence is overwhelming. This single event would turn the march of the gay agenda on it’s head.

I have a young adult son who has been swallowed up in this lifestyle. By his own admission, it is because everywhere he turns he hears…it’s o.k., it’s healthy, it’s natural. The media makes it look desireable. But, if the APA took a stand with truth, many would listen. Kids don’t generally want to listen to their parents, they need to hear it from outside, authoritative sources.

But what we usually call history (or His-story) has always been defined by those who won the culture warr in their time and place – and who thus simultaneously created mountains of corpses out of the bodies of those who they defeated.
His-story, always follows the golden rule. Namely those who won and control the gold and wealth, and who thus rule, always get to write and define the “official” his-story in their time and place, and thus in posterity.
Until as inevitably has happened in our time and place wherein every possibly philosophical and cultural perspective is freely available on the internet, the “losers” can now freely promote alternative versions to counter the official versions of His-story.
Including of course the “official” versions of sexual histories, or the always fluid relationships between male and female.
The master of this necessary decontruction project was of course Michael Foucault
Although it has nothing explicitly to do with sexuality one of the best example of the deconstruction of the “official” version of his-story was/is provided by Jack Forbes in his book Columbus and Other Cannibals.

I actually agree with the comment that all history has a bias. For example, the world history we learned in school was unabashedly pro-British. However, there is a difference between bias and false information. Boswell purposefully mistranslated his supposed evidence. To say that someone engaged in same-sex sex when they didn’t isn’t bias, it’s slander. It is important when reading anyone to know where they are coming from for example Michael Foucault was a gay sad-masochist communist/anarchist who died of AIDS.
